What is DeepLearning.AI

DeepLearning.AI is an AI learning platform founded by Andrew Ng. It runs on two tracks — specializations and professional certificates that cover fundamentals systematically, and short courses that finish in one to three hours. As of August 2026 it publishes 104 short courses, 13 regular courses and 10 professional certificates.

Its defining trait is that most courses are co-produced with the companies that build the tools. Working with Anthropic, JetBrains, OpenAI, Microsoft and AWS, it keeps adding short courses on features that shipped only weeks earlier. That the material tracks the current behavior of the tools is the decisive difference from books and generic online courses.

The catalog of AI coding agent courses is deep enough to use as working documentation.

Because the vendors themselves wrote the material, it is faster and more accurate than assembling fragments from blog posts.

How to use it

1. Create an account

   Choose from the catalog at deeplearning.ai and start with "Start" or "Enroll for Free."

2. Begin with a short course

   They run one to three hours, so take one to the end. Claude Code and the agent courses are marked intermediate, but the real prerequisite is being able to read code.

3. Run the notebooks

   Most courses ship with an execution environment so you write code as you go.

4. Move to specializations for depth

   Longer programs such as the Machine Learning Specialization run through Coursera and issue professional certificates.

Because the short courses are published free, you can work through near-official Claude Code material at zero cost (as of August 2026).

How it differs from other learning services

DeepLearning.AI covers AI itself and development that uses AI, which puts it in a different role from services teaching language basics. It is heavy without programming fundamentals, and the shortest path for anyone who can already read code.
