About "ドットインストール"
What is dotinstall
dotinstall is a learning service built on three-minute programming videos. Running since 2011, it publishes 576 lessons across 8,618 videos as of August 2026. Because each video is short, you can advance one at a time during a commute or a break, and the lessons play on a phone.
The range is wide — web production, game development, data analysis, AI and machine learning — and, notably, the "environment" side is well covered: local setup, Linux commands and Git. Japanese-language material that shows you the terminal as you work through it is not common.
How to use it
-
Create a free account
Free members can watch the free lessons. Start with one video in the language you are curious about and see whether the pace suits you.
-
Pick a lesson
Lessons are organized by language, framework and tool. If you already know what you need, watching only that lesson is enough.
-
Build the same thing yourself
Watching alone will not stick. Write the same code in your own environment and run it as you go.
-
Add Premium when you need it
Quizzes, problem sets and questions to working engineers are Premium-only. Switching once you hit the sticky parts is where it pays.

How it differs from other learning services
dotinstall commits to "short videos, broad coverage, fast." Compared with build-a-service formats, each lesson produces a smaller artifact, but the psychological cost of starting is far lower.
