What is Whisk?

An experimental image-generation tool from Google: drag & drop subject, scene and style images and Gemini captions them while Imagen generates new images. It is now integrated into the successor AI creative studio "Google Flow," and the old URL redirects to Flow. In Flow you can use Nano Banana for images and Veo 3.1 for video.

About "Whisk"

Whisk has been integrated into Google Flow

Whisk was an experimental image-generation tool from Google, but it is now integrated into Google Flow. The old URL (labs.google/fx/tools/whisk) automatically redirects to the Flow page. Whisk's experience — combining subject, scene and style images to create new images — has been carried over into Flow, a broader AI creative studio.

Whisk's successor is Google Flow. To keep creating images, use Google Flow (labs.google/fx/tools/flow). Flow bundles Google's generative models, including Nano Banana for image generation and precise editing and Veo 3.1 for video with native audio (as of August 2026).

What Whisk was (at the time)

Whisk was an experimental image-generation tool launched on Google Labs in December 2024. Drag & drop Subject, Scene and Style images, and Gemini would auto-generate captions and Imagen 3 would generate a new image — a "remix"-type tool that captured the "essence" of a subject rather than an exact copy. A "Whisk Animate" feature (using Veo) to turn images into video was added later.

What you can do in Google Flow

01Create & edit images

  • Nano Banana — image generation and precise editing

02Turn into video

  • Veo 3.1 — generate video with audio

03Assemble

  • Storyboard, Image Editor, etc. — build out generated assets

Pricing

Flow is not sold standalone; it is included in a Google AI subscription. Besides a free tier, it is available on Google AI Plus ($4.99/mo), Pro ($19.99/mo) and Ultra ($99.99/mo+), with generation on a credit system. Prices and available countries can change, so check the official site for the latest (as of August 2026).

Details of Flow's image and video models are covered on the Veo and Nano Banana pages. ImageFX for image generation was likewise integrated into Flow.
