Windsurf was acquired by Cognition and is integrated with Devin. In July 2025, Cognition—the company behind the Devin AI agent—acquired Windsurf's product, intellectual property, trademarks, brand, and staff. Windsurf 2.0, released on 15 April 2026, integrates Devin natively, and Devin is included in the Windsurf Pro, Max, and Teams plans. The official site is now folded into devin.ai. How to Use

1. Install

   Download and install the Windsurf Editor for Windows, macOS, or Linux from the official site.

2. Initial setup

   On first launch, you can import settings from VS Code or Cursor, choose key bindings (VS Code or Vim), and select a theme.

3. Create an account and log in

   Create a Windsurf account and log in. You can start using it for free.

4. Start a project

   Create a new project, or open an existing project folder to start working.

5. Use Cascade

   Use the "Cascade" panel within the editor to give natural-language instructions and generate or edit code.

6. Deploy

   With Netlify integration, you can deploy applications with one click from within the editor.
