Canva's starting point is that you can create professional-quality designs simply by arranging assets, with no specialized knowledge. Choose from more than 1.6 million templates and tens of millions of photos, videos, illustrations, and audio tracks, then edit by drag and drop. From presentations and social media to print materials, videos, and websites, you can create across all of them with the same feel.

Create with AI (Canva AI)

Today's Canva is also a platform with Canva AI built in throughout, handling generation and editing from text. AI usage limits expand on higher-tier plans depending on your needs, and you can also purchase an additional AI pass.

Canva Craft (Canva's first in-house image generation model)

Canva Craft is Canva's first in-house image generation model, built and trained from scratch by Canva Research, Canva's in-house AI lab. It was announced on October 23, 2026 in the official newsroom and has been available to all Canva users worldwide from the same day.

• Where to use it: In Dream Lab, Canva's image generation feature, opened from the bottom-left panel. It is also offered to developers through the public API, and availability in the Canva MCP Server (for operating Canva from AI assistants) is listed as "coming soon"
• What it does: Generates images at up to 2K resolution in more than 30 aspect ratios (custom sizes can also be entered). Prompts can be written in any language, and text inside images can be rendered in 55 languages
• How it works: A two-stage design that first plans the composition (which elements go where, at what size, and what text appears) and then renders the image. It was trained on millions of Canva templates (posters, social posts, presentations, and more), and Canva positions it as a model that is stronger at "design" than at photos. Generated images are said to be easier to split into editable elements with Magic Layers
• Faster versions: Two variants, Craft-fast and Craft-ultrafast, have been announced as upcoming (not yet available as of October 24, 2026)
• Rankings: Canva announced that Craft ranked 4th overall on DesignArena, a third-party site that crowdsources evaluations of AI design, and 1st in "People & Portraits" and "Landscapes & Nature" (rankings as stated by Canva)

Pricing and usage: As of October 24, 2026, Canva has not published a dedicated price for Canva Craft or how much AI allowance a single generation uses. Some Dream Lab features draw from the AI allowance (Help), and the free plan's AI allowance is "up to 20 uses of standard or high-quality models" (Pricing). Pricing for the public API has not been published either.

How to use

1. Sign up (free)

   Register with an email address or Google account. Even the free plan gives you access to many features.

2. Choose a design type

   Select the kind of design you want to create, such as a presentation, social media post, flyer, or video.

3. Choose templates and assets

   Starting from a template, place photos, illustrations, fonts, and audio by drag and drop.

4. Generate and edit with AI

   Use Canva AI to generate text and images, or apply edits such as background removal and translation.

5. Share and export

   Export as PDF, JPG, PNG, or video, and schedule social media posts, order prints, or collaborate as a team.

You can start on the free plan, and higher-tier plans expand AI usage limits, assets, brand management, and team features. Prices shown are the annual amount when paid annually (per person, per year) (as of October 2026).

To use AI features even more, you can add an "AI pass" to Pro or Business. Monthly billing is also available (annual billing is cheaper). The former "Canva Teams" has been merged into Canva Business.
